They operate based on the principle of heat transfer between the heated sensor and the medium. By detecting changes in the cooling effect of the medium, the switch can accurately monitor flow conditions. When the flow rate rises above or falls below a preset threshold, the switch outputs an alarm signal to the system, which can then execute protective actions. This helps prevent equipment failures such as pump idling or "dry running," ensuring safe and reliable operation.

Overview of Standard Thermal Flow Switch

The Standard Thermal Flow Switch is an electronic switch for monitoring and controlling the flow of liquid, gas, or oil media in industrial pipelines.

  • What is it? Flow switches are primarily installed in-line or inserted into water, gas, oil, and other media pipelines to monitor the flow rate within the system. When the flow is higher or lower than a set point, an alarm signal is triggered to the control unit, helping to avoid or reduce the risk of the host equipment "dry burning."

  • Principles of Operation: Based on the thermal principle, the sealed probe contains two resistors, one is heated as the detection resistance, and the other is unheated as the reference resistance. When the medium flows, heat from the heated resistor is carried away, changing its resistance value. The difference between the two resistance values is then used as the basis for judging the flow rate.

  • Main Application Field: Mainly used in fluid cooling systems and hydraulic/pneumatic systems. This includes: water-cooled welding machines, laser equipment cooling systems, vacuum coating machines, electric furnaces, polysilicon ingot casting furnaces, and other applications where the circulation of water, cutting fluids, or lubricating oil must be monitored for cut-offs, as well as pump idling protection.
