What is Flow Switch?

A Flow Switch is an automatic monitoring device used to detect the presence or absence of fluid flow in pipelines. It typically consists of a sensor, switching unit, and output signal module. When the flow rate reaches a preset value, the switch activates to start or stop related equipment such as pumps or alarms.

Types of Flow Switches

1. Thermal Flow Switch

This type detects flow based on the principle of heat transfer between the sensor and the medium. It has no moving parts, offering high reliability and long service life.
Ideal for clean liquids, air, or gases in industrial automation, water treatment, and energy systems.

2. Paddle Flow Switch

A mechanical flow switch that uses a paddle or vane inserted into the pipe. When flow occurs, the paddle moves to activate a microswitch.
Commonly used in cooling water systems, HVAC, and lubrication circuits for on/off control or flow protection.

3. Piston Flow Switch

A compact design using a spring-loaded piston to detect changes in flow rate. It provides a fast response, high pressure resistance, and excellent repeatability, suitable for hydraulic systems, machine tools, and industrial processes.
