Description

Overview of PTFE Thermal Flow Switch

The PTFE Thermal Flow Switch is an advanced electronic switch designed to monitor and control the flow of aggressive liquid or gas media where traditional stainless steel sensors would fail.

  • What is it? Flow switches are primarily installed in-line or inserted into pipelines carrying corrosive fluids. It monitors the flow rate and triggers an alarm signal (Relay, PNP, or NPN) if the flow crosses a preset threshold, protecting expensive chemical pumps and preventing equipment from dry burning.

  • Principles of Operation: Based on the thermal principle, the sealed PTFE probe contains two resistors: one is heated as the detection resistance, and the other is unheated as the reference resistance. When the medium flows, heat from the heated resistor is carried away, changing its resistance value. The difference between the two resistance values is then used as the basis for judging the flow rate.

  • Main Application Field: Mainly used in chemical processing, semiconductor wet benches, electroplating lines, and wastewater treatment. This includes monitoring the circulation of sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, and strong alkaline solutions, as well as chemical pump idling protection.
